Propolis is produced by bees from the resinous substances of young plant buds (mainly: poplar, birch and alder). Propolis is used by bees to seal the nest, to disinfect it against fungi and bacteria, and to polish the patch cells before the mother lays eggs in them.

Biological properties of propolis
antibiotic effect - inhibiting the development and complete destruction of bacteria, fungi, viruses and protozoa
renewing effect - renewal of soft, connective, cartilaginous, bone and dental tissue
effects on the immune system - regulation of the immune system (immunoregulatory activity), including protecting the body against microbial infection
anti-tumour effect - inhibiting the development of tissue cultures of human and animal tumours
antioxidant effect - capture (scavenging) of free radicals, i.e. protecting proteins against peroxidation
local anesthetic effect
cardiovascular effects - increase of heart rate, regulation of blood pressure, sealing of capillaries
central nervous system effects - smooth muscle relaxation, reduction of spontaneous motility (sedative effect)
other actions - hypoglycemic, antiaggregative, cholagogic, cholagogue, protecting liver tissue, protecting against ionizing radiation
Before using propolis, make sure you are not allergic to it!
We can check this by rubbing delicate parts of the palm with propolis and observing whether there is an allergic reaction (redness, itching).
Preparation of propolis solution:
Place the crushed propolis in a clean container and pour 76% ethyl alcohol in the proportion of 50 g of raw material per 0.25 l of alcohol. Mix by shaking for about 2 weeks. Then set aside to clear the liquid and sediment. After removing the propolis solution from the precipitate, it can be kept for up to 6 months.
Recommended intake:
- cold: 40 drops of tincture per 200 ml of warm boiled water in the morning on an empty stomach
stomach pain: 50 drops per 100 ml of water.
